DESCRIPTION:
- In Hawaii: Coral Reefs, get an expansive collection of coral reef animals recorded underwater with hydrophones. Hear popping crackles as thousands of snapping shrimp clicking their claws and the guttural crunch of parrot fish chomping on coral. Hear reef animals I can't identify, but surely sound like aliens and the soothing roar of distant waves hitting rock volcanic shorelines. Hear distant humpbacks wailing in deep water and close whalesong as new friends chatted near the reef.
- This library offers you a large collection of coral reef soundscapes. I hope you enjoy listening to the music of the natural world. Thanks for listening.
KEY FEATURES:
- Active nature and quiet nature coral reef soundscapes
- Ultrasonic snapping shrimp chorus
- Weird clown-like fish sounds
- Parrot fish chomping on coral
- Distant humpback whales
- Close humpback whales
RECORDING STORIES:
- I successfully recorded with my first underwater drop rigs for a total of 72 hours!
- I was able to use two Gladys hydrophones with a customized Pelican case (containing a Zoom F3) to make long duration underwater recordings for the first time.
- The Pelican case leaked and I ruined two batteries, two Zoom F3s, and 4 hydros...but the microSD cards survived and it was worth it! I destroyed about $3000 worth of recording gear just to make this one library, so I hope you enjoy listening :)
- My hydro drop rig V2 will have a better design, but this was a fascinating proof of concept with V1.
FILE LIST:
- View larger version or Download CSV.
- A spectrogram is included for each audio file. Double click on the photo in the file list to enlarge.
- These files are delivered at 192 kHz sampling rate because the the snapping shrimp have LOTS of ultrasonics.
