DESCRIPTION:

I'm bouncing around in the back of a sled, being hauled by large snowmobile. We're 50 miles out in the wilderness, going 40 mph across a frozen lake. Trying to get to our campsite before a windstorm hits. I've just set up a 3D rig in a beautiful leafless birch forest and I'm excited to record another storm. I love storms like birders love birds.

We make it back to camp and hunker down for the night. I fall asleep listening to the roar of the wind in Scots pine and birch. It soothes my soul after too many weeks in the city.

A calm day follows. I use the good weather to set up more mics before another round of weather. That evening, we decide to go up to the top of one of the fells to see the extended sunset you get in March in Lapland. It's calm down at camp, but the weather up top gets spicy real quick.

Above the treeline the wind starts to whip. This is a ridiculously fun type of wind, the kind that's so strong you can actually lean into it. I spent the next hour of so leaning 30-45 degrees into the wind, and it actually holds me up with invisible arms. So fun. Watch the end of the behind the scenes video for a taste of that madness. With some sleeping pad wings, you could jump and almost fly a bit.

That's a wrap on my 145th sound library from the natural world, and I hope you enjoy listening. I'll talk to you again soon.
