DESCRIPTION:
I drove from San Antonio to Dallas, then flew from Dallas to Helsinki, Helsinki to Ivalo, and finally made it to the northern part of Finland called Lapland, where I was excited to go exploring. I think I'm the most happy when above the Arctic Circle.
I met up with my local expedition guide, and we started to pack the gear for our first overnight trip. We loaded up a large snowmobile and sled with all of our camping gear. Then piled on the provisions and two giant duffels of recording gear.
The first leg of the adventure was driving about sixty miles out over a giant frozen lake to a remote cabin that was the home base. Lake Inari was a gorgeous area with lakes that went on forever. I was also struck by the beauty of old growth Scotts pines forest.
The weather was pretty spicy with cold temperatures, high winds, and some powerful storms that brought the falling snow I wanted to record. In this collection, you'll find the delicate icy precipitation sounds of falling snow in this beautiful polar environment. It's a subtle sound that can only be recorded in almost silent spaces.
That's a wrap on my 143rd sound library from the natural world, and I hope you enjoy listening. I'll talk to you again soon.
