DESCRIPTION:
Around volcanoes, there's sometimes these odd forest islands. They're made when lava sweeps down from the eruption and surrounds a little bump of land and forest that sticks out from the surrounding topography. Imagine a massive black lava flow with a little oasis of trees that somehow didn't get burnt.
In Hawaii, you can find multiple forest islands in a series that make little archipelagos of trees dispersed in seas of cooled lava. Birds love these little patches of forest and it was fun to explore these micro ecosystems that only exist near volcanoes, especially the musical calls and wing whooshes of the Apapane. That's a wrap on my 136th sound library from the natural world, and I hope you enjoyed listening. I'll talk to you again soon.
